I have been playing for a few years now. I write and play music with my brothers and my friends. We almost never play covers (except for a few Chili Peppers songs). We like to play funky songs with cool parts. I dont play with a pick because i play with my whole hand. I'm not very impressed when bass players use picks and finger grease. I play until my fingers bleed.
