My name is Kevin Barry and I'm from southern Ireland.
I'm sixteen year's old and got a bass for my 15th birthday. I've now been playing it for a year and a few months.
I'm in a three piece band called Forbidden Son, recently changed from Trinity.
I'm about 6 foot tall with red-hair.
I was into a variety of bands before I got my bass, I was particularly enjoying Nirvana at the time I decided I wanted a guitar, but a friend who plays guitar himself(now bandmate) persuaded me to take up bass.
I was unsure at first when I got my bass as I was unaware of the bassists function's and and role's in different genre's of music, but I was determined to be good at it. I got a book(yes, a book) and studied it closely. It came with a CD nad I played along with every practice excercise given until I perfected and understood 100% what the exercise was to teach.
It took me quite a while to even start looking at the tabs for some songs, but when I did, I was much more able to play them then some friends I can mention who got frustrated when they couldn't play them the first day.
I love bass, and have no experiance with any other musical insrument. Although I''d like to learn drums, cello, piano and acoustic guitar.

Equipment:
A Warwick Corvette Double Buck(Black) 4-String
A Maverick Nemesis S-4(Blue)
A Hartke VXL Bass Attack Pedal(for christmas)
A 4 string Encore PK40TBL *Shudder*
A Behringer BX1200 120Watt amp.
I will soon be adding a Boss LS-2 Line Selector pedal to even out the balance between my overdrive and clean signal. Any body who finds that their overdrive takes too much bottom end should check out this pedal. I got the idea from a magazine, here are the instructions that came in the magazine-''When set to the mix mode, both effects loops are enabled and the levels of each loop can be adjusted individually(i.e. the two loops can be blended together). This is particularly to blend an effected sound with a clean sound with only one amp on stage(I have used this technique to subdue a Bassballs pedal which I found too over the top). You could also use different effects on each loop to creat a unique sound. My current setup has a bassballs, phaser, and a BSP200 in effects loop A. In effects loop B I just have a ptch lead that loops from the send to the return(i.e. always clean). I blend these 50/50. With this setup, when I use effects in loop A, I still have 50% of my clean sound so I don't lose any bottom end.''
Well, I think that this information should be shared for those that can't afford so many cabs for their clean and overdriven sound. G'luck, hope I helped!
Musical Skills/Knowledge:
Unfortunatly, I'm not experianced with any other musical instruments except bass but I intend to learn more in the future...
